PROTECT YOUR INSTRUMENT FROM THE COLD WITH MY MUSETTE™
Fruition LLC’s patented My Musette™ is a temperature-stabilized carry bag for your musical instrument, camera, laptop, or any temperature-sensitive item. My Musette™ establishes a temperature "floor" that limits the drop in interior temperature for a prolonged period of time during exposure to the cold.
About Us
Fruition LLC
Fruition LLC is focused on providing temperature-stabilized carry bags and other personal conveyance articles for temperature-sensitive items. Fruition's products employ phase change material, thereby achieving far greater temperature stabilization than is possible with existing carry bags, backpacks, case covers, or luggage. No batteries, heaters or wires are needed.
Fruition LLC's first product, My Musette™, now available at www.harvardoublereeds.com, maintains a safe temperature "floor" during extended exposure to the cold. Though originally intended for woodwind instruments, My Musette's interior cargo space accommodates cameras, laptops, tablets, and other items that may be vulnerable to the cold.
Fruition's patented technology (US Pat. 10,401,074 and US and foreign patents pending) is suited for other items and circumstances for which temperature-stabilization is beneficial, including larger items, stringed instruments, items of different shapes, and protection from hot as well as cold conditions. Please contact us, if you have such a need. We would love to discuss with you how we might help.
Protect temperature-sensitive items during outdoor commutes.
Stay-Warm™ PCM panels, installed within the walls of My Musette™, store heat energy while indoors and then gently release it to the interior of My Musette™ during exposure to cold outdoor temperatures. 3M™ Thinsulate™ fiber insulation and Temptrol® reflective fabric slow heat loss to the environment, prolonging the period over which a safe interior temperature is maintained.
My Musette™ slows the temperature drop from room temperature (RT) and establishes a near-level temperature "floor" (green curve), limiting the temperature drop of your instrument for a prolonged period during exposure to the cold. Temperature stabilization with My Musette™ far exceeds that of a case cover, insulated carry bag, backpack, or briefcase.
Testimonial
“At last, my students and I have a defense against the bitter cold of Northern Winters - we have proven this technology under the most trying circumstances, and have had, for the first time, a very good track record for preventing cracks . . . a must have for oboists on the go in wintertime!”
- John Ferrillo, Faculty, NEC, Principal Oboist, Boston Symphony
Maintain a safe temperature without heaters, wires or batteries
Instead of relying on energy stored chemically in batteries, My Musette™ relies on the heat energy stored or released from material as it changes phase. The phase change material (PCM) contained within the walls of My Musette™ stores heat energy ("charges") while indoors, and then gently releases it inside My Musette™, during exposure to cold outdoor temperatures. 3M™ Thinsulate™ fiber insulation and Temptrol® reflective fabric embedded in the walls of My Musette™ prolong stabilization of the interior temperature by slowing the rate of heat loss to the environment.
My Musette™ as a carry bag
The interior of My Musette™ measures 18½" x 12", sufficient to hold a Loree single oboe case (with reed/accessory case), a laptop, a tablet, a camera, or other item. Long and short range temperature indicators (seen side-by-side in the photo) display the temperature of the phase change material, an indicator of the state of "charge"of the Stay-Warm™ PCM panels.
My Musette™ in its open configuration
Opening up My Musette™ while indoors hastens absorption and storage of heat energy, enabling more rapid recharge of Stay-Warm™ PCM panels.
Stay-Warm™ PCM panels
My Musette™ comes with pre-installed Stay-Warm™ PCM panels. PCM panels are easily removed and installed
My Musette™ provides protection over one or many outdoor exposures
And over multiple commutes on a cold day.
A near room-temperature floor is maintained over six 45-min. commutes on a cold winter day (20's and 30's °F) with only brief 8-min. room-temperature stopovers between commutes.
Even a single commute with bags other than My Musette™ can expose your precious cargo to a large temperature drop.
Carry bags, backpacks, or case covers that rely on insulation alone may allow the temperature of your cargo to fall tens of degrees below room temperature during a single 40-min. exposure to 20 °F.
With My Musette™, the interior and cargo remain at safe temperatures over a 40-min. commute in 20 °F.
Stay-Warm™ PCM panels work with layers of fiber and reflective insulation embedded in the walls of My Musette™ to stabilize temperature.

Where is My Musette™ available? My Musette™ can be purchased for $199 from Harvard Double Reeds at www.harvarddoublereeds.com. Each My Musette™ comes preloaded with Stay-Warm™ PCM panels and a shoulder strap.
-
How do Stay-Warm™ PCM panels work?Stay-Warm™ PCM panels naturally "charge" at indoors temperatures, absorbing and storing heat until they reach full "charge". During exposure to the cold, the panels gradually release heat, while maintaining a safe temperature inside My Musette™.
-
Can Stay-Warm™ panels run out of heat energy? It's possible for Stay-Warm™ PCM panels to become fully "discharged," but as the graphs above show, the PCM panels possess considerable capacity. Hence, as long as there are opportunities for the panels to "recharge" indoors from time to time, complete discharge should not occur. Recharging naturally occurs any time My Musette™ is at indoor temperatures during the day, evening, or overnight. In the event that the panels do become fully discharged, the fiber and reflective insulation within the walls of My Musette™ continues to be effective. Simple measures, such as leaving the bag "ajar" while indoors and leaving in a warm location at home overnight, are recommended. Charging of the PCM panels can be hastened during overnight hours by fully opening My Musette™ up, as shown in the above photo. Typically, the above measures should be more than sufficient, but active methods can further accelerate charging - insertion of an electric heating pad into My Musette™ or direct exposure of the PCM panels to hot tap water by temporarily removing them. Each user of My Musette™ will establish convenient daily routines, based on climate and length of daily outdoor exposure, that ensure the PCM panels continue to function throughout the day.
-
Why are Stay-Warm™ PCM panels removable and installable?Typically, there is no reason to remove or install PCM panels, but there may be occasions where it is necessary or desired: - To facilitate ultra-rapid charge of PCM panels by direct immersion in hot tap water or other direct heating - To instantly realize full charge by replacing PCM panels with fully charged spare panels - To readily allow inspection of PCM panels. My Musette™ has passed through TSA scanners numerous times. We are not aware of any instances where inspection has been requested. - To place PCM panels in checked luggage. Though not necessary, some users may prefer to remove the PCM panels during periods of mild outdoor temperatures.
